Thanks for your efforts - I think we will try the API but make it run in a 
NEP in a separate subsystem.  The good news is, there are only certain times 
when the users need this functionality so if I can contain it while it is 
running and give it as much 'juice' as I can then perhaps the impact can be 
reduced.  Thanks also to everyone who responded.
