That's the problem -- we're using more than just terminal emulation (some web browsing, and PC apps). I'm not really involved in this side of things, so I don't know all the details, but I think the decision was made to go with thin clients because they thought they'd be easier to support. Not just the hardware itself, but the software (all on the server), and security might be tighter. There may have been an issue with client access licenses also, but I could be wrong about that. I agree -- I'm not wild about them myself, but . . . .
