Re: Backup Policy -- MIDRANGE-L

Oh - the point I was trying to make - in SOME cases, where you have the 
time available for the backup window, you COULD do a SAVSTG for disaster 
recovery, followed by SAVLIB *ALLUSR, SAVDLO, SAV commands to create 
another backup for restoring individual files if needed.  Or you could 
purchase 3rd party products (or roll your own) to save the queue contents 
to files prior to saving.

If memory serves correctly,
(1)
used to be that a savstg had to go back to the machine it came from.
If I am incorrect on that,
it at least had to go back to a machine of the same hardware 
configuration.
(2)
you cannot do a partial restore (eg, one file or library),
it is all or nothing..
And, realistically, how often do you restore the entire machine  VS  a
partial restore..
