Nope - depending on the system, many of the RISC systems shut themselves down automatically I thought... I had a client reach about 140 in their Computer room because they had an air-conditioner break down. The LCD screens went black on their 620, and their F35 systems. The 620 may have shut himself down. The F35 simply stopped. When they got the CE in to "Fix" that system, other then wrapping a disk drive with a screwdriver, everything was OK. The 620 came up fine - but like I said - may have shut himself down accordingly. >My company is shutting down the /400 do to the temperature in the Computer room. With all the lights off and the door shut, the temperature in the computer room is at 87o and the humidity is 47%. I tried to convince my boss that it was much cooler inside the box than it is on top of it (that's where the thermometer is). He feels that the previously stated readings are too high for the /400 to run at. OK - KEEP all the parts of the case on, make sure all the "Airflow" cards are in there, and it should be fine to about 95 degrees. I've seen AS/400's in a warehouse keep chuggin along! Now I wouldn't want to TEST that... >I guess I'd just like to prove to him that it's okay for the system to be running in these conditions. And since I can't work on the /400, I get to spend my day on the midrange list. Does anyone know the extremes that any /400 is designed to run at? Manual states operating temp is under 100 degrees...
