On a S/36 it's CATALOG.
The default is alphabetical sequence (useful maybe for a disk catalog, but
you probably want a tape displayed in file sequence):
CATALOG ALL,TC,,,LOCATION,REWIND
(Tape device may be TC, or T1/2/3/4)

If this is on a 400, you can use either CATALOG in the S/36EE or M36, or
use the native DSPTAP command.

        Subject: System/36 Tape Info

Does anyone know the command to display tape information on a system 36? I
need to go through a series of tapes created on a Sys/36 and extract the
most recent data from some of the files. Is there a command that will
show
what files were saved and the save date?
