My boss figured out a simple, yet elegant solution to the cross library logicals. First of all, this has nothing to do with it, but make sure you save access paths. We did a restore once and it took days for the access paths to rebuild. Ok, now after you restore all of your libraries, and you've gotten the errors about the logical files, run the restore again, like the below. The new will get the missed logical files. RSTLIB SAVLIB(*ALLUSR) DEV(TAP01) OPTION(*NEW) Works like a champ! Also, doesn't run nearly as long as the first restore since it skips the stuff already restored. Freaking flawless. Beats heck out of doing a DSPFD to an outfile, on the old system, and writing a program to restore any logical file which access any physical file not in the same library. Oh, and the physical library was only a problem if it was alphabetically after the logical file library. Rob Berendt ================== Remember the Cole! As I understand it, there is a company coming in to do all the work. They are going to do a SAVSYS and restore it on to the new box. Everything is supposed to be peachy. We are a very small shop. There are three programmers who also do operations. We have one person who handles creating user profiles, but we can all do it in a pinch. None of us has been invited to be here or even look over and comment on the plan. I know there are issues with cross library logicals where the library with the logical is restored before the library with the physical. We have a ton of them. I want to make sure that the fact is known and there is plans to handle it. That is only one concern. I apologize to the list for sounding cranky, but I don't want to have the headaches on Monday. </RANT> Thanks again for all your help and comments.
