Oh, gosh, you're gonna make me look up the original post again? <dig, dig, dig> Ok, Dare's original query on the subject was: >What are the PROs and CONs on a system without disk mirror or raid. I listed a bunch of CONs and one little PRO, hence the CONs outweigh the PROs. It was not my intention to imply that anyone should consider a "system without disk mirror or raid". Is that what you read from that? The context of my post should have made that clear. Dare, based on your new revelation that this is strictly a development system, you should be o.k. as long as you can accept the risk of losing whatever work you did since your last backup. I imagine your risk would be somewhat reduced given some of the new drive diagnostics IBM builds in that detects problems before they occur. In the end, you roll the dice. Perhaps you should consider a scenario whereby you put a new tape in the drive first thing in the morning and let the job scheduler do a SAVCHGOBJ to tape every hour on the hour. Might be overkill for your situation, but what if your DASD crashed at 4:30 p.m. after a day of heavy development on a real tight deadline? Dan, come again on the above statement...
