They won't give you physical access, and they won't allow anyone else to insert a CD for you ? How do they ever expect to do a release upgrade ? Who changes the backup tapes ? Or don't they believe in backups ? ;-) No way I know of to install PTF's from a PC's CD-ROM. If it's individual PTF's you can always order via the modem or Internet. For cum packages though that isn't any help. One (expensive) solution, depending on which model of 400 you have and how far your office is from the computer room, would be to add an expansion unit to the system with an additional CD-ROM unit. I 've searched the archives and everything I've found says this can't be done but I thought I would ask anyway. I'm the new security officer of a recently added AS400. Ie previously existing network. This means I have all the access I could possibly want inside the box, but the powers that be will not give me physical access to the box! We run a TCP/IP network and I want to know if there is anyway to load PTF's etc from my PC's CD-ROM to the AS/400. The only other option available to me is to get them to move the 400 out of god's room and into my office!
