Just got the February issue of Midrange Technology Showcase. There is a
lengthy follow up article by Alex Woodie entitled "Microsoft Steamed over
Reported AS/400 Ties", and a letter from Microsoft VP/CIO Rick Devenuti.
It isn't yet available online - just the table of contents (they post
articles for back issues, so it will be a month).

I have read this page. If you look at the total computing power that M$
claims to use to run the entire company, and believe that's all that's
necessary to run a company of that size, you would probably agree with
Bill
Gates that no one will ever need more than 640 K to run a desktop.

Although IBM is very mum, it is known that M$ uses a service bureau for
some processing, and that service bureau uses 400's. Furthermore, some of

the ex-M$ personnel who are familiar with the M$ application (MAC PAC if
I'm not mistaken) now work for that service bureau.

I would trust M$ as far as I can throw all of Bill Gates' money.
