Ken,

While I am a very happy Zone Alarm user, if you already have a firewall
(SonicWall), it should have no problem blocking outbound connections. And
if it cant, it isn't a firewall. Check the documentation for how to setup
filters. No use spending another $40 per PC for Zonealarm pro (the non-pro
version is free).

In my case, I have a cable modem connection, not DSL. The cable modem has
the same protective features as a dial-up modem ... NONE.

I've been running BlackICE Defender on my PC and will continue to do so. I
bought the SonicWALL SOHO2 to move the blocking process off of my PC. I
will continue to use BID for those rare situations where I need to use a
dial-up connection and in case something should happen to slip through the
SonicWALL. I will probably get ZoneAlarm Pro to block outgoing connection
attempts for unauthorized applications (not that I think I have any on my
PC), which is something that BID doesn't do and the SonicWALL can't do since
it is external.
