Oops Restore

That time of year again.  

Everyone in the company knew we were running Fiscal Month End Year End etc. 
last week, but some people waited until this week to try to run some reports 
based on Year-to-Date totals that got wiped out when the Fiscal Wrap-Up 
occurred.

This pattern of behavior works for some reports when it is Fiscal Month End 
but NOT Year End.

So I tell them 
1. You need to find the check lists associated with Year End, and make sure 
that the stuff you have to have are on those check lists so you get the data 
next year for sure.
2. Get with my boss & identify all the reports the company cannot live 
without.
3. Some weekend in the future, I will do the normal backup 100% system SAVE 
21 then wipe out our stuff & restore from backup made on eve of Year End & 
run all the reports you missed & I may need to lie to the job what date it 
really is & then wipe out that stuff & restore from the SAVE 21 at the 
beginning of it.  This has to be done on a weekend because RESTORE takes 
considerably longer time than SAVE.  

So I want to get everyone's overlooked reconstructed in one weekend.

I know from previous years that it will be a couple weeks before all the 
overlooked scenarios are identified ... different people different years ... 
some departments more at risk than others.  I used to do extra reminders to 
people about this, but it made no difference.  The only way they learn is to 
have a year or a month with no report in their collection & instead have a 
notation that the reason it is missing from their records is they waited 
until after Year End was run to try to get at the data.

I have also been looking into alternative ways at getting at the data 
involved in these overlooked reports.

Question ... when we have saves from
SOME LIBRARY / Bunch of Physical Files / Members in each / 
Each Physical has Bunch of Logicals

Can I RESTORE to Some OTHER LIBRARY
from our SAVE 21
Selected Physical Files, all their Members, all their Logicals
Naming only the Physical & some *ALL to get all Members & Logicals
or do I have to name all the pieces in the right sequence?

My theory is that I would create a temporary library for this & copy the 
software for the reports they neglected to run, so that it gets at the 
temporary copy of only the files involved.
