If spool on hold, we can print x-ref only.
I have to share printer with people who are possessive.
I also sometimes get interrupted in mid thought, so I like to use compiled 
listings to scribble on as I am figuring out mods involving multiple 
subroutines.

I use techniques that work for me ... 
if it aint broke, I am not eager to learn some other method.
