A Notes administrator should take the following classes at a minimum: Systems Administration I Application Development I Systems Administration II A Notes developer should take the following classes at a minimum: Application Development I Systems Administration I Application Development II I forget the going rate. These classes should be taken at a LAEC or Lotus Authorized Education Center. One example is at: http://www.eclipse-education.com They offer a ton of other classes for Notes also. For user training we use our computer lab. We have 11 PC's set up there. The outside company comes in and does the training. The company we use for user education is Executrain. We used to use Ikon, (formerly Computerland). But the local gal they had quit. We have a Passport Advantage account with Lotus for Support. You pay a little extra but I use the heck out of it. Now I set up our Notes. We started out on the IPCS, went to NT and came back to Native. You can do it. There are a slew of manuals, redbooks and what not to help. Check out their references. Check out the prices of getting education elsewhere. Then you can compute how much of the quote is for education and how much for setup. Then you can decide if they are worth it, should come down in price, or do you want to roll your own. But, begrudge not the laborer his wages. Rob Berendt ================== Remember the Cole! After visiting Common this fall, we have basically decided on Domino, running native on our AS/400, as the preferred solution. We started getting pricing and everything fell right into our budget until we got the quote from our business partner for installation and training. My question is twofold: 1) Is $40,000.00 out of line for installation and training for this product? 2) In your experience, is Domino that difficult to install and set up to warrant this, in my opinion, outlandish fee? We are a 4 person shop with quite a few years of midrange experience between us. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
