It all depends on your overall organization, the complexity involved, your future plans for the server, and the amount of training you want.  Lotus Domino can handle situations from the very simple (single server, few users, single Directory, single domain) to the very complex (multiple servers in one-to-many locations, many thousands of users, multiple Directories, multiple domains).  If you don't plan on hosting anything more than your 4-person shop, 40K does seem a bit high - particularly if you can get training somewhere else.

You might ask them for pricing without training - there are lots of LAECs (Lotus Authorized Education Centers), and all teach basically the same, from basically the same set of training packages.

Hello all,

We are currently in the process of evaluating Email/Groupware for our
organization. After visiting Common this fall, we have basically decided on
Domino, running native on our AS/400, as the preferred solution. We started
getting pricing and everything fell right into our budget until we got the
quote from our business partner for installation and training.

My question is twofold: 1) Is $40,000.00 out of line for installation and
training for this product?
                                 2) In your experience, is Domino that
difficult to install and set up to warrant this, in my opinion, outlandish
fee?

We are a 4 person shop with quite a few years of midrange experience
between us.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Mark Walter
