Have you tried to find the AS/400 using Find|Computer?  I haven't used
ME, but we have the same problem with NT 4: some AS/400s just never show
up in Network Neighborhood, but you can find them, and map drives using
\\<As/400-name>\share, and so on.

If find doesn't work with just the AS/400 name, try it again with the
fully-qualified domain name (<As/400-name>.<company>.<com>).
