  • Subject: Netserver and MS WinME - conflict?
  • From: Jerome Draper <jdraper@xxxxxxx>

I have tried to configure NetServer on a new Dell box loaded with Windows
ME. NetWork Neighborhood (sic) can't see the AS400 but can see other PC's
on the same LAN in the same workgroup. These other PC's can see the AS400
in their Network Neighborhood (mix of Win95 and Win98). I logged on to
WinME with a valid AS400 signon, verified that it had not been nixed by
NetServer, and made sure both the LMHOSTS and HOST files had an entry for
the AS400 Q<systemname> as reported by the utility that started NetServer
on the AS400. QSERVER is running as is the WRKACTJOB QZ<something> that
shows that NetServer is running. Nothing on the NetServer web pages.
System is on V4R3 and only CA/400 for Win95/NT is loaded -- not CAE.

Help. How can I get NetServer running? My guess is that I need CAE or
that there is a bug in WinME compatibility with NetServer as PTFed on this
system.

TIA,

Jerry
