From the 6xx/170 and up, the base DASD CTLR can be spec'd to support 
RAID5. I don't remember off hand if it's default or extra $$

Since the days when our machine was a 9406-320, the load source unit has
been mirrored, and the rest of the disk units are all RAID-5.  (We have
6606, 6607, and 6603 disk units).  We are now up to a 9406-530 running
V4R4.

We are switching to an equivalent box.  Is mirroring still required on the
load source unit?  Or can RAID5 be used instead?

If we still mirror, do I start RAID on rest of the disk units first, then
come back and mirror the load source units?

We have 6502/6512 disk controllers.
