You are about to be dragged, kicking and screaming into a GUI environment. You must install Operations Navigator on one PC. Do it on yours since you are the configuration dude. Ensure that you select all possible options. Open up your 400 with Operations Navigator. Select Network, Servers, TCP/IP Right click on Net Server, select Properties and review it, and OK it. Double click on Net Server, Open up Shared Objects Click on File, New, Printer and add your AS/400 printer. Right click on Net Server again and select Start. By the way. This kinda works under V4R3. But to make it smoke you need V4R4 or above. Now go to the Client. Open up Network Neighborhood. Look for your AS/400. You might be listed twice - once with a Q in front of your name, (see Net Server properties, if so). Open up that and your printer should show QED "Graap, Ken" <keg@exchange.gasco To: "'Midrange'" <midrange-l@midrange.com> .com> cc: Sent by: Subject: Printing a MS Word document to an AS/400 printer... owner-midrange-l@mi drange.com 09/28/00 12:16 PM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L I'm experiencing a major brain drain right now and the AS/400 information Center isn't providing the information I require to figure this out .... I've been asked if it is possible to print a Microsoft Word Document created on a PC to an IBM 3900 printer attached to the AS/400. The PC has Client Access Express installed on it. I vaguely remember doing something similar several years ago at my previous job, but I can't remember how I did it. Was printing from the PC to an AS/400 printer only possible with the old SNA based CA/400 clients? Kenneth **************************************** Kenneth E.
