Re: restore V3R1 pgms and data to a V4R4 machine

Which brings up a bit of history.  There was a company, years ago, when
I worked elsewhere.  They had an old computer they lost when their place
burnt down.  They wanted to lease the newest model because if they bought
it then the insurance company would settle for replacement value and the

i was catching up on messages and reading them in reverse order.  this
question was first (or last) without responses...

but yep, we did something similar to that, there was a 38 up in enid
oklahoma, owned by an insurance company in receivership.  it cost them
$5000 a month for the rental of the room and the maintenance of the
machine.  since the company was in receivership, they couldn't buy an
as/400 to replace it.  but they needed to access the data occasionally
to check policies.

we loaded their data for them on our 170, and they accessed the data and
programs remotely using client access.  no re-compiles, no nothing.
even i was impressed!
