No comments, but I have another question.

We have a subsidiary located about 5 miles away on our network.  They use the 400 for all their data and printing.  However, we have run into problems lately.  I will try to be brief and list what we HAVE tried.  We have an IP connection between here and there on fiber.  There are two things they "must" print from the 400.  The printer is an IBM 4317 with IPDS.  The first job is a query (only a couple of users do this for their peace of mind) followed by invoices (the query is not needed for the invoice, the majority ONLY print invoices.  The invoices go through a form-server to place headers, logos, and other data in the print file.  Data has to go from the 400 to the printer, and then the printer sends data back to the 400 to proceed.  A commtrace has revealed that somewhere the printer is not sending the data back.  Here is what we have done:  changed ethernet card, recreated PSF config, recreated DEVD.  This would lead us to believe it's software-related, so we then rerouted the data to our IS department to a test 4317 with the same configuration.  The invoices printed fine.  OK, it could be the printer, so we took a brand-new 4317 to them and brought theirs back to our department.  Theirs worked up here but the new one did not work at their location.  OK, so now we looked at communications problems.  Last week we switched out the CSU/DCU and rebooted their router.  Guess what?  It worked!  It proceeded to work for the next week, and Tuesday it reverted back to its old ways again.

Any other guesses?  I may have left something out, so make suggestions.

Thanks so much,
