-- Mark, I assume you're using the newer International Financial Management package, rather than the old Accounting Management apps. Debbie, IFM is a very powerful, modern package created using Synon/2E (which is called something else these days, but I've forgotten what). It was a clean-slate design, and is only about 5 years old. The worst thing I've heard about it is that it's so flexible it takes a while to work out the proper setup and procedures to fit your business. Unless you can find someone experienced in using it, you would probably need to budget some implementation support consulting time from your local MAPICS affiliate in order to put it in successfully. The old applications are simple to the point of being crude, and show many signs of their S/34 roots in their program code. However, they do work, and MAPICS customer support is usually very good. Shameless plug - there is also a MAPICS topic mailing list right here at Midrange.com, with a number of knowledgeable users, consultants, and people with e-mail addresses that end in @mapics.com subscribed to it. To subscribe, go to www.midrange.com and follow the instructions, or send an e-mail (subject and contents can be blank) to mapics-l-sub@midrange.com. Our main interest is for general ledger and payables. Can anyone recommend some good packages for the AS400? What about JD Edwards? Any info you can provide would be helpful.
