If your DDS file and your flat (S36) file have the same record length, just do a
CPYF from your s36 to your DDS file with FMTOPT(*NOCHK)

What this does is copies the records as they are without checking at all for 
proper
formatting.

If your DDS was set up right, you should be able to see the records and data 
when you
do something such as UPDDTA on the file (that's how I check that mine went over 
fine).
