RE: Using generic program to read multiple file formats

Make the file program defined.  Then it doesn't know about record formats.
This may introduce some additional limitations but I can't think of anything
really awful at the moment.  If your program is using an externally
described view, it may think that it knows about all the possible formats.

Many thanks but that is what I am doing (or I think I am!) and I get
undefined
format errors (RPG1011) even though my read is by file name, not format.

Any further ideas?
