The email client could also be the culprit. I've been on so many different
email clients now that I can't remember which one gave me fits as you've
described here, but some (at least one) email clients' filters don't look at
the actual email address in the To: or Cc:, but they see the name that the
sender assigned to the email address in their client address book. So, Don
may have MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com in his address book, but also assigned a
"name" or "nickname" (depending on the email client used) of, say, "MIDRANGE
list" or something similar. Your best bet may be to change your filter so
that To: *contains* only the string "MIDRANGE"; most likely you'll have to
fiddle with it to get it to work.

BTW, I've got *NO* filtering at all on the email client I'm using in my new
job. They use something called TAO here, supposedly a mainframe-based email
package. Even though we have a Windows GUI front-end that we can use, it is
severely lacking in usability features. We have a lot of mainframers here who
apparently are completely averse to a GUI environment and you'll see two tubes
on most mainframers desks here - one is the MF dumb tube, the other a Windows
PC (which is usually off or on screensaver mode all day). Fortunately, the
winds of change are blowing around here, and it would appear that we'll be
going to an NT-based email system soon (and, thus, be able to use a more
modern email client).

Hi John,

Take a look at the To: address -- it's not Midrange-L. Have your filter also
check the Cc: address for Midrange-L.

What on earth are you doing different from everyone else?
