We've got a LaserJet 4 Plus configured as a 4214 (model 2) printer. At the top of the first page of anything we print, we get a series of ASCII-looking symbols. The printer attaches to the parallel port off the back of a dumb IDEA 5250 terminal; the terminal is attached via twinax. Also, I've defined an 88 line per page & 8 lines per inch output for one report, and it prints at 6 lines per inch, causing the last 22 lines of the 88-line page to overflow onto the next page; it prints in the desired portrait mode and we get all 132 characters across just fine. I've been out of hardware configuration too long to remember where to start looking for this. Hints would be greatly appreciated.
