Mike, There's at least 3 ways that I know to do this: 1) Submit a job to open each of the logicals, thus forcing each to be rebuilt. The CL OPNDBF command is sufficient for this. The rebuilds will occur in this batch job. 2) Change the access path maintenance parameter for each of the logicals, first to *REBUILD, then back to *IMMED. It's been a long time since I tried this, but I _think_ the rebuilds take place in the QDBSRVxx system jobs. 3) Restore the logicals along with the physicals. The rebuilds will take place in the QDBSRVxx system jobs. To do 1 or 2 programmatically, I'd use DPSFD FILEATR(*LF) to an outfile to build a list, then use RCVF to read through it and do either the OPNDBF/CLOF or the CHGLF. Spartanburg, SC -----Original Message----- From: Mike Naughton [mailto:mnaughton@juddwire.com] Hi everyone, Is there a way to tell the system to rebuild access paths? We have a test library, which contains copies of production data files (physicals and logicals). Periodically, we like to refresh the data from the production system, and the fastest way seems to be to use our backup tape to restore the prodution library into the test library. However, when we back up, we don't save access paths, so the restore doesn't put them into the test library. I know after the restore is done I can run programs to open the files and rebuild the paths that way, but is there a way to rebuild all the paths without having to go through this? +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
