We (my wife who works for a business that has a S/390 and no AS/400s) received an advertisement in the mail from IBM yesterday. It is a flyer that says on the left, over a picture of the AS/400, IBM's AS/400e Extreme Business Tour = coming soon to a location near you! The flyer folds out to the right. It highlights: AS/400 Announcement Overview Web Serving Supply Chain Managment Lotus Domino for AS/400 Business Intelligence Java on AS/400 Business to Business Applications net.commerce more. Find out where and register on the Web at ibm.com/as400/extremetour. Get on the road to extreme answers. There's more but this is the general gist. -----Original Message----- From: Alistair Rooney [SMTP:alistairr@tbsa.co.za] Sent: Friday, September 01, 2000 8:44 AM To: AS400ADVOCACY@midrange.com Subject: RE: Name Change - Please comment and VOTE I'll go one better and say that I think the name change is necessary, to fool Joe public into thinking that this is the "latest" thing from IBM. There are too many people who will think the AS/400 is "legacy". Yes, a HUGE amount of marketing will change this, but a rename/rebadge will be cheaper. It will still be a /400 at heart.
