Title: RE: Best method for moving AS/400 data to PC

We use a method similar to Terry's suggestion with Raiser's Edge (fund raising software on the PC).  Raiser's edge saves the transmission file to a network drive, and then a very simple CL on the 400 "gets" the file from the network and includes it in the regular nightly ACH transmission.  You could do this from the AS/400 to the PC (network drive).  Very cheap and easy.  It doesn't sound like you'd need any vendor software or special commands.  If you need an .xls document, this may be a little harder, but it doesn't sound like you do.  Our ACH transmission files are plain text.

Subject: Best method for moving AS/400 data to PC

We are building an interface from our Infinium Payables Ledger to ADP
payroll for ACH payments (i.e. direct deposit of employee expense
checks).

We are reviewing the various possibilities of moving AS/400 data to PC
for ADP.

Known options are FTP, Client Access - execute remote command, ODBC, and
various third party packages (ex. Paul Conte's Commando?)

Can anyone offer any advice as to which would be preferred method and
why?

We are trying to automate as much as possible (i.e. not force conscious
effort on part of end user to run multiple manual commands), while
keeping recovery options in mind.

Any and all input is appreciated.  TIA

Regards,
Cynthia
