How do it know? Somehow, the 400 must be able to tell that you aren't inside. Subnet mask? Address translation on the network somewhere - like a proxy? Routing? Some filter setting on the AS/400 NIC card? Can people at the site ping the machine from a hub outside the firewall or whatever?
