Sorry Booth, maybe I was being too cute. The trade magazine stories I've seen are always billed as success stories, but if you read the story, and you don't have to infer anything, you generally find that the shiny new thing doesn't work nearly as well as the ugly but serviceable thing it replaced. In the last two or three years I haven't seen nearly as many of them. They used to be a weekly feature in "PC Week." I guess the criterion for success in these cases is no one being fired. <g> BTW, I believe firmly that it's possible to write good GUI business software. There's nothing inherently wonderful about green screen.
