That is a major gripe with me.  I hate "hidden" system procedures.

Back in the day, this was the only way to do this.  If you got the "volume
not initialised" message you could NOT run an INZTAP because the tape drive
was allocated to another job (the backup.)  Has this changed?  I do not have
access to our tape drive so I cannot readily test it.
