    I would agree with the information you received !  But, I am sure I
understand the question, if you are changing out both ends, then both ends
will have Ethernet adapters and no mapping should be necessary.   But if you
are changing out only one end, and using the LAN as a bridge/route that's
the address I believe needs to be mapped at the opposite end.  AKA: The
controller description on the AS/400 because it is attached to an Ethernet
adapter most have the Token Ring address of the 5494 mapped into it.

    But, why are you doing this anyway. I can see the $$s of moving the
office to Ethernet, but if you already own and have installed, and working,
the WAN stuff why not leave it in place in the Token Ring.
