  • Subject: Java Performance on the AS/400

It has been our experience that java runs from two to
ten times faster on the as/400 then on windows. This
with the optimization level set to 40 on the
400.(Comparison between a 170 with 500 megs of ram
running v4r4 and Websphere 1.2 and a 700mgz Windows NT
box with 256 megs of ram running service pack 6 and
websphere 1.2)

As far as the web sites go I am afraid I can only
point you to a B to B ecommerce tool that we are
finishing up. This application is running under
Websphere 1.2 its all java servlets using IBMs Java
toolbox for As/400's (now JT/Open) record level access
to retrieve data from the 400 it running on. Anyway
the url is www.ice.mccinc.com.

It may be minor but all of the calculators and
applications at www.familytrust.org are run by java
servlets on our as/400.
