I fairness to IBM, they have two reasons: 1. They feel that SQL is more universal than DDS, which it is. This causes there to be one less barrier for others to learn the platform. 2. They want to minimize the expense of maintaining two interfaces. Expense is more important to IBM today than benefit to the customer, because Lou manages the company to stock price. What those DODO heads miss is that DDS is significantly more programmer productive than SQL for database definition. They miss this because they don't use the AS/400 to run their business.
