If you have the SMP feature (5769SS1  Option 26 OS/400 - DB2 Symmetric
Multiprocessing) installed one very effective way to limit how many CPU's a
particular job uses is to utilize the CHGQRYA command...

I'd recommend - CHGQRYA DEGREE(*NBRTASKS 2) 

This will limit the number of CPU this job can use to two... I was able to
reduce the impact of jobs performing huge index rebuilds due to SQL file
joins, from using 80% of the system to 25%. The job will run longer, but it
doesn't impact the system nearly as much...
