  • Subject: Performance adjustment:

I'm running V4R4 on a 730 8 way. We run JDE World and 1World. There are
certain programs that when simultaneously, can and do bring the 400 to it's
knees. Keep in mind that we are running normally at twenty percent CPU.
These programs don't run very often, and even less often do they run under
the circumstances that it slows us down to a crawl. However, I would like
to know if there is a way to prevent this from happening. The programs are
interactively calling SQL statements that read through an entire file with
a few million records using a LIKE statement.

I am not looking for a programming solution. I am more interested in
adjusting the AS/400 performance to not allow so much resources to be
devoted to these tasks. I don't know much at all about performance tuning,
as the 400 does such a good job normally. Any help would be appreciated.

-Matt
