My opinion: make sure that the session keepalive timeout is set at a fairly
low value.  This is set through CHGTELNA (Change Telnet Attributes) keyword
TIMMRKTIMO.  This value, specified in seconds, indicates how often the
AS/400 should verify the session connection.  The higher this value, the
longer between the time a session crashes or is ended without signing off
and the time that the AS/400 realizes this and kills the job.  OTOH, the
lower the value, the more often the AS/400 checks, which uses AS/400 CPU
cycles and network bandwidth.

I have ours set at 60 seconds.

This is a training issue.  Or break a finger each time they shut down
without signing off! <G>
