Set up either an NT Workstation or NT Server box to do VPN.  NT4WS will do
only one connection, server will support multiple simultaneous.  You can
configure the NT box to accept only PPTP connections from the outside.  Then
the users at home connect over VPN and they're in - with 128 bit encryption.
Cheap and relatively easy.
