If you write a UPS program (there are plenty of examples including the white
manuals), a single AS400 can request the other systems to shutdown.

By way of example you could:
runrmtcmd to IP systems to shutdown
(& sbmrmtcmd to AS400 systems over ddmf to pwrdwnsys *cntrld)
power itself down

Obviously you would want a more formal shutdown such as letting the users
sign off asap, and the model UPS programs usually do this.

What I would like to know is whether UPS serial port signals follow a
standard across manufacturers?
