I also use ZoneAlarm and it is truly a great thing.  But, it does nothing
for virus protection.  It's claim to fame is as a personnel firewall.  And
not only does it let you know about stuff coming in (eg: Folks pinging you
or probing your ports), but also, stuff on your machine that is trying to
get out.  Both of which can be rather eye opening.

I highly recommend it.

I have been keeping up with the thread on the KAK virus. And just wanna
let you folks know about a dandy little program called Zone Alarm. Not
only does it protect against attached email viruses but it can help
protect a pc from open port attacks by such things as NetBus and BO 2000
and from port 139 (bios) attacks.
It seems to to this by making your pc look like it is powered off. Zone
Alarm is a super firewall for the pc it provides logging, and strips
those nasty attachments off when it finds them. I am not sure but I
think you can upgrade the virus protection. #1 thing is it is free!
