So would a SAVSTG be an attractive alternative to a full system save (SAVSYS,
SAVLIB *NONSYS, SAVDLO, SAV) prior to an operating system upgrade?

The whole purpose of this save would be to allow fallback to the previous O.S.
version if there was a problem during the upgrade.

Thanks,

SAVSTG should run considerably faster than option 21, but you can only
restore the entire system to:
    * the same system
    * an identical system (from a disk perspective) - with somewhat more
difficulty
    * another system with the same or larger disks - with once again
somewhat more difficulty
You CANNOT restore an individual library or object. Restore is all or nothing!
