That may work for them, but I do my backup with a CL 
program that does an INZTAP in the beginning.  We have 
other work for our operator to do.

I assume you have some type of cartridge loader or stacker, as you said the
backup is on 4 tapes. Why not initialize them when you put them into the
cartridge loader.  Then after all four tapes have been initialized and unloaded,
just reload them into the tape drive.
