Please report any problems to david (at) midrange.com.

Hello all,
I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this topic. Due to planned
network address changes, I am running into problems with remote outqs
defined with 'hardcoded' IP addresses. I've defined each remote outq with
CNNTYPE *IP, RMTSYS *INTNETADR, INTNETADR 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'. Seeing the
error of my ways with hardcoded addresses, I've added entries into my
AS/400 host name table and changed the outqs parm RMTSYS to reflect the
name from the host name table. Printing works great!

The problem I have is that the address is going to change again. Our
SYSTEM DNS located at our corporate headquarters will now carry the new
address. The question I have is this: if, in the TCP/IP Domain Name I
have our corporate DNS address and the parm HOSTSCHPTY set to *LOCAL, will
OS search my AS/400 TCP/IP host table and then the REAL DNS? The help on
Host name search priority explains the search for *REMOTE that the search
is 1st remote then 2nd local. The help for *LOCAL doesn't mention any
secondary search. Any enlightenment will be greatly appreciated!
TIA,
Theresa Luebeck
