Dave, Project lightning has gone GA. You can find out all about it at http://www.as400.ibm.com/clientaccess/oledb/ I've used the Express OLE DB Driver and Toolkit for some projects. Without getting into specifics, I'll just say that it has been somewhat dissapointing. It was written to ADO version 1.5, and hasn't been significantly enhanced since. As you've said, it's clear that IBM's focus is placed entirely on Java right now. If you are interested in doing any kind of serious MS->AS400 C/S, you'd be better off looking at a third party middleware solution. Hit Software seems to have a very complete OLE DB driver, but I haven't test it myself. You can find them at www.hit.com Regards, John Taylor Canada ----- Original Message ----- From: "DAVID BULOG" <d2ba@xtra.co.nz> To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Sent: Sunday, April 09, 2000 07:10 Subject: Is Project Lightning still alive? > I would would like to hear the opions of anyone who has used the Project > Lighting > OLE DB Provider and SDK toolkit etc on a enterprise project --how did it > work out?
