Another question comes to mind.....

Does anyone know how system value QPRCMLTTSK and DB2 Symmetric
Multiprocessing (SMP 5769SS1 Option 26) might work together?

Subject: System value QPRCMLTTSK (Processor multi-tasking)

We recently upgraded one of our AS400's from a 620 to a multiprocessor
model. (Model 720, processor feature 207D, v4r4, not partitioned.) We are
now enjoying a very healthy performance boost. Our QPRCMLTTSK system value
is currently set to '0'.

MY QUESTIONS:
o Is it a "no-brainer" to set this to '1' before the next scheduled IPL?
o Do you know of any special considerations or things to watch out for?
o Am I likely to notice a performance difference?

This is all the Work Management manual says:

QPRCMLTTSK is processor multi-tasking. This system value allows you
to turn on and turn off the processor multi-tasking capability. If enabled,
more than one set of task data will be resident in each CPU. Some work load
may experience increased performance due to caching implications. The
possible values for processor multi-tasking are:

'0': Processor multi-tasking is turned off.

'1': Processor multi-tasking is turned on.

On a partitioned system, change this system value from the primary
partition only.
