Many browsers render "strong" text using a bold font, but there is no requirement to do so. "Strong" is just another way of adding some sort of emphasis, just like the E tag. I agree it's a subtle distinction. Perhaps it's better to markup your document (if you can) using the more descriptive tags like Q, CITE, BLOCKQUOTE, CODE, etc. Cheers!
