As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

do you have an ethernet 10 base t hub your as/400 is connected to?  if
so, the dsl box will hook into that.  (at our clients, it was with a
crossover cable btw.)  

then you just configure the port and the gateway address.  it's really
simple.
