Your ISP should be providing a DSL 'modem'. This unit will have an Ethernet (10bt) network adaptor. You will need an Ethernet adaptor in your AS/400 to connect to it. That is the WAY oversimplified version. Some questions and possible solutions: 1) Did you provider give you a single IP address or a group of 4, 8, 16 etc addresses? If you have only one, you will need to either connect ONLY your AS/400 or you will need a device (Smart Hub, Router, Firewall, your AS/400(if V4R4)) doing NAT for the other devices in the network. 2) Do you intend to connect more than just the AS/400 to the network?? If you do check your DSL agreement as some may only allow you ONE device, others allow you to connect an entire network. 3) What are your plans for protection? You really need a firewall or router doing firewall work between the AS/400 and the Internet. 4) Is the AS/400 currently participating in a TCP/IP Network? I am inferring from your question that it is not. You will need to configure TCP/IP on the required Ethernet card and provide appropriate route to get to the DSL unit.
