  • Subject: USPS Perl Script Translation

Folks:

We are trying to use the XML interface to the USPS to get valid mailing
information for a web site. USPS publishes a neat manual for using the
interfaces, however in order to send the request from the AS/400, there are
not any good examples. The best I can come up with is this perl script:
(and I know very little about Perl)

print "content-type: text/html\n\n";
print $htmlBegin;
$ua = new LWP::UserAgent;
$req = new HTTP::Request ?POST?, ?http://SERVERNAME/ShippingAPI.dll?;
$req->content_type(?application/x-www-form-urlencoded?);
$req->content(?API=Rate&XML=? . $rateReqDoc->toString);
$response = $ua->request($req);
if ($response->is_success) {
            $resp = $response->content;
} else {
            print "<p>There was an error processing your request</p>\n";
            print $htmlEnd;
            exit 0;
}

What would your best advise be: Can anyone tranlate this Perl into
something more useful?

Thanks
