Any ideas on why this would not work? Bruce, This is a permanent restriction for RPG III, caused by RPG III handling the key comparison itself, bytewise. The problem also exists for key fields defined with fancy features like ABSVAL, ALTSEQ etc (anything that allows two keys with different values to compare as equal). RPG IV doesn't have this problem since it does READE a different way from RPG III.
